Development programme success as Joe Hurel signs for Arsenal Academy!

Arsenal Soccer Schools are delighted to congratulate Joe on signing for Arsenal FC.
Joe first came along to one of our holiday courses in Woking, Surrey as an eight-year-old and was immediately recommended to our West Kent Development Centre and our Advanced Squads in Bromley.

On completing his first year he was recommended to Arsenal Academy’s Centre of Excellence in South London.

After spending a short time there he was invited to train at the main Academy site at Hale End, Walthamstow.

Arsenal Soccer Schools Director for Kent and Surrey, Barry Jeffreys said: "From the moment we first saw Joe as an U9 we knew he was a very talented boy. He is totally committed to goalkeeping, has a fantastic attitude and appetite for the game, and we hope he goes on to fulfil his potential at the highest possible level. To sign for Arsenal Academy is a fantastic achievement and we wish him well for the future.”

Joe’s dad Mark said: “This is a big step for Joe and we are very proud of him. He shows so much courage, determination and tenacity in goal and already has the scars to show for it! Needless to say, Joe is over the moon – he’s a Gooner through and through and Petr ?ech is his hero, so to make it into the Academy is as good as it could get for him. He knows he’s going to have to continue to work hard, but he’s loved the training and match experience so far and is relishing the opportunity to learn as much as he can from the coaches at Hale End. We’d like to thank Barry and his team for all the training Joe has received. Particular thanks are due to Danny Hebditch, who first met Joe on a lumpy school playing field, saw something special in him and started him on this very exciting journey. Joe recognizes that some credit is also due to his big brother Freddie, who spends many hours in the back garden constantly pelting balls at him."

Well done Joe on behalf of all of the Arsenal Soccer Schools Team!
