Arsenal's joint venture with Global Partner, Emirates offers the opportunity for children to learn to play football to the highest possible standard "the Arsenal way". Three courses of ten-weeks each run consecutively during Dubai school terms each year, catering to children aged between 5 and 18 years.
Opened in October 2009, the school provides progressive courses, each building on the skills learnt in the last course, thus enabling the children to develop confidence on the pitch whilst having fun through play.
Competitive matches are regularly held against opposing teams to expose the students to different styles of football. In addition, development squads are selected to help to raise the standard of play, especially among the more gifted players.
Based at The 7evans Stadium, Dubai's leading sports facility, the students train on state-of-the art football pitches and each season, have the lucky opportunity to meet their Arsenal heroes at school to share their footballing knowledge and demonstrate their skills!
The school's Head Coach is ex-Arsenal midfielder Ian Selley, who made his debut for the club in 1992 and chalked up a total of 60 appearances — winning the FA Cup, League Cup and European Cup Winners Cup in 1994/95 - before spells at Southend, Fulham and Wimbledon. Aged 18, he also represented England in the 1993 FIFA World Youth Championships in Australia. Ian then went on to be a player coach at many clubs before turning full time coach in 2010.
Having worked under Arsène Wenger, who is renowned for nurturing young talent, Ian possess the skills and knowledge in helping players to play to their maxim.
